Like everyone else, when I heard that this movie is the best
movie ever, like most of you, I was skeptical and I didn’t really want to watch
the movie. Then, I watched the movie and in my opinion, this is the best movie
ever. The movie is so good that it will take centuries before people can even
think of remaking it. It is that good, even though the movie is completely in
black and white and has some outdated narrating technique,
this movie is probably the best movie I've seen till now. From the acting to the cinematography to the direction, this movie is just brilliant. Orson Welles is a brilliant guy, taking on the role of directing, acting and writing the screenplay to give us this extraordinary gift, Citizen Kane. The movie follows the life of an extraordinarily brilliant and rich man Charles Foster Kane (Orson Welles). The movie starts with the death of Kane and a summary of his life. The movie continues in the point of view of a reporter, who is trying to get some good viewership with a good article on Mr. Kane. He tries to find out the meaning of Charles Kane’s last word “Rosebud…”. The reporter tracks down people from Kane’s past to find out the meaning of the word “Rosebud”, going through some of the highlights in Mr. Kane’s life. As we all sit and watch and wonder what a man who had literally everything could mean by “Rosebud”, we get a glimpse into his life. Charles Foster Kane, a man who had everything in the last moments of his life just wanted “Rosebud”. The significance of “Rosebud” keeps us hooked onto the movie. And the ending is nothing short of heartwarming. It shows us that sometimes even though we surround ourselves by society’s depiction of a well lived life, the most insignificant of memories can bring so much joy. So, watch this movie and find the Rosebud in your life.
